On-Site Computing Facilities

• On order: Linux supercomputing cluster with total 24 Intel Nehalem x5570 CPUs (96 cores) and 288GB memory, additional large memory node with 2 x5070 CPUs (8 cores) and 144GB memory, 96TB (raw) disk space, QDR Infiniband 40Gb/s interconnect
• Coming in 2010: GPU cluster with expected 80 Nehalem/Westmere processors (480 cores), 480GB memory, and 80 Tesla Fermi GPUs (total 38400 cores and 320GB GDDR5 memory)
• machine room with independent air-conditioning
• numerous Linux servers with up to 16 Cores and 64 GB RAM
• NVIDIA Tesla S1070 GPU supercomputing system (960 cores) with CUDA developement tools
• Linux and Windows workstations in public areas and offices, including 10 public workstations with 30in monitors
• multiple laser printers, including high-speed color printers
• gigabit optical fiber backbone
• scientific and software development software, including Matlab, Mathematica, compilers, and debuggers
• disk arrays with disk-to-disk backup of users' files
  

The Center for Computational Mathematics and the Department of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences have a professional full time system administrator.

Front Range Consortium Supercomputing Facilities

• IBM BlueGene/L, three racks with total 6,144 cores. Front end with 4 POWER 5 nodes, disk array, and connection to NCAR's mass storage. The computer is located at the National Center for Atmospheric Research in Boulder.
• Coming in 2010: SUN Blade Constellation, 10  racks with Nehalem/Westmere CPUs, total about 10,000 cores, and aggregate performance of over 150TeraFLOP/s. Disk array with raw capacity 768 TB. The computer will be located at CU Boulder.
